2009 Internet Sales Figures This year has seen past predictions being correct with continued growth in Internet Sales. While overall UK retail sales fell 3.3% on a like-for-like basis during December 2008 and being the "worst December in history" for many retailers, the British Retail Consortium reported that online sales grew by a third compared to December 2007. That's online sales grew by 30% over Christmas, despite it.
Online sales increased another 19% in January as the internet continues to encroach on the high street's traditional retail shops. January was a surprisingly upbeat month for retailers in general with overall like-for-like sales increasing by 1.1%, according to figures released by the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
